Uber, a renowned ride-hailing service, has partnered with electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian to provide Los Angeles Uber users an opportunity to specifically request a Rivian R1S all-electric SUV for their travel needs. This special offering is available exclusively through Uber application till October 28.

The cost of reserving a ride powered by Rivian electric vehicles equates to that of a standard Uber Black SUV reservation, with an additional benefit of an extra 15 minutes of wait time, as stated by Uber. This collaborative service with Rivian is part of Ubers commitment towards promoting sustainable transport solutions and is reflective of its ambitious green transition plan outlined in 2020. Uber has previously announced its goal to transform into a zero-emissions platform by 2040, an initiative guided by the principle of being beneficial for riders, drivers, and cities.

Rebecca Tinucci, the Global Head of Sustainability at Uber, mentioned in a recent poll that one out of every four riders revealed their initial ride in an electric vehicle was facilitated by Uber. This statistic, she says, is just the tip of the iceberg. Uber and Rivians partnership will introduce riders to the adventure-ready R1S, as part of their larger initiative to highlight and promote the worlds most innovative electric vehicles.
