On Sunday evening, a vehicle with two occupants plunged into the harbor in Marina Del Rey, resulting in both individuals being taken to the hospital for medical attention. The incident took place at 4675 Admiralty Way, following which authorities from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were alerted and arrived at the scene post 6 p.m.
Public Information Officer Marco Rodriguez from L.A. County Fire Department reported that the two individuals were able to escape the submerged vehicle independently. They were examined by the departments medical staff at the scene, and subsequently transported to a nearby hospital. Their condition remains undisclosed at this time.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, two lifeguards associated with L.A. County were deployed as divers to ascertain that no other individuals were trapped inside the vehicle. Concurrently, recovery crews from the L.A. County Fire Department undertook the operation of pulling the vehicle out of the harbor. This was performed by affixing large yellow floating devices to the vehicle, which was then anchored to a crane. The vehicle was eventually hoisted out of the water and loaded onto a tow truck.
Witness accounts suggest the possible presence of a third individual, a female, who allegedly exited the vehicle before it descended into the water. Official confirmation of this detail is, however, pending. The extracted vehicle bore significant front-end damage, likely from its collision with the steel railing before entering the water. The circumstances leading to the accident are currently under investigation, and further details remain to be disclosed.
