An unfortunate incident led to the deaths of three motorists on the 91 Freeway near the Orange County-Riverside County line early Wednesday morning. The event transpired starting with a vehicle that stalled around 1 a.m. in the eastbound lanes just east of the 241 Toll Road.
About five minutes later, a second vehicle crashed into the rear of the previously mentioned non-functional vehicle, leading to an explosion and flames engulfing one of the pertinent vehicles. This preliminary data came from the California Highway Patrol. Documentation showed debris distributed throughout the freeway lanes while the local fire department attempted to control the fire. A pair of additional vehicles appeared to have been included in the accident at some juncture.
Emergency personnel arrived at a lethal crash scene in Orange County on Feb. 26, 2025, (OnScene.TV). No specific details were initially provided about the crash or any injuries. Yet, a coroners van was dispatched to the location around 2 a.m.
OnSceneTV, an independent media agency, indicated that multiple fatalities might have occurred in the collision but official sources were unable to authorize the death count at the instant. A spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol later revealed that three individuals lost their lives due to the crash, without providing any further specifics about the victims or the vehicles they were in.
Officials closed all eastbound lanes initially before briefly opening a single lane. Surveillance appeared to show all lanes closed shortly after 4 a.m. The freeway was finally cleared approximately at 6 a.m. In a separate incident, a crash on the westbound side of the freeway near Green River Road exacerbated the traffic holdups, especially affecting commuters from the Corona area in Riverside County.
