A DUI suspect identified as Matthew Thomas Jackson, 37, a resident of Temecula, was arrested in connection to a fatal accident which took place in Riverside County. Jackson was apprehended following a traffic collision that resulted in the death of a juvenile on May 26, 2024. Riverside County Sheriffs Office charged Jackson with several counts including murder, grave vehicular manslaughter, operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs causing injury, and reckless driving causative to injury.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Butterfield Stage Road and Channel Street in Temecula. Jackson allegedly ignored the signal at a red light and caused a collision. Witnesses testified that Jackson abandoned his car and fled the scene. The victims of the accident, with injuries ranging from moderate to severe, were moved to a local hospital for treatment. Jackson was apprehended in close proximity and initially taken into custody but was later set free.
Following the tragic death of the hospitalized juvenile due to injuries sustained in the collision, the Riverside County District Attorneys Office proceeded to press additional charges against Jackson on December 30, 2024, leading to the issuance of another arrest warrant. The authorities located and arrested Jackson once again on January 17, 2025, at a residence on Venice Boulevard in Los Angeles. He was transported to the Cois Byrd Detention Center and is currently held on a $1 million bail. The identity of the juvenile victim was not disclosed by the authorities.
