A high-speed pursuit was reported through the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon, initiated by a motorist suspected of Driving Under Influence (DUI). The chase originated from the La Cañada Flintridge region around the 210 Freeway at approximately 3 p.m. Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department (LASD) attempted to intercept a black sedan, but the driver bypassed the authorities and embarked on a rapid flight south through the valley on municipal roads, notably along Sunland Boulevard and Vineland Avenue.
During the pursuit, the suspect crashed into several vehicles and took risks driving into the oncoming lane, creating a hazardous situation for other road users. At the intersection of Vineland and Lankershim Avenue, the suspects vehicle clipped several cars before fishtailing into a street curb. This collision resulted in the deployment of the vehicles side airbags.
The reckless journey concluded at the intersection of Vineland and Hortense Street, as the sedan came to a halt due to the deployed airbags. The suspect was surrounded by LASD deputies, who approached the vehicle with their guns drawn. As of the time of report, 4:30 p.m., a standoff was still ongoing between the deputies and the suspect.
