A suspect driver has been apprehended following an incident on February 14th originating near Sequoia Avenue and Coastal Oak Drive, Simi Valley. Simi Valley Police officers while conducting a routine patrol at approximately 11:00 PM noticed a vehicle running a stop sign. Upon attempting to stop the vehicle for the traffic violation, the driver engaged in evasive actions. The suspect driver reversed first before accelerating away from the officers, initiating a high-speed pursuit.
The pursuit continued with the suspect reaching excessive speeds and displaying reckless driving behavior on surface streets. The chase ultimately culminated near the Eastbound 118 Freeway onramp where the suspect driver crashed into a pole. Photos taken during the arrest depict a significantly damaged vehicle which halted in a brush area close to the freeway onramp.
Upon their arrival at the scene of the crash, the officers discovered two individuals within the vehicle, with both victims displaying minor injuries presumably due to the impact of the collision. The driver was detained at the scene and subsequently incarcerated at the Ventura County Main Jail on charges of felony evading. In accordance with maintaining confidentiality, the police department has not released further details regarding the incident or the identity of the driver involved.
