A San Bernardino County Sheriffs Deputy lost his life during a vehicle pursuit in Victorville on the morning of March 17, 2025, as per sources from KTLA. The incident was reported around 11 AM at the intersection of El Evado and Seneca roads.
Gloria Orejel, a spokesperson for the department, confirmed the occurrence of injuries, however, their severity was not immediately clear. The situation was complicated by the presence of live wires at the scene, prompting utility company Southern California Edison to intervene.
The crash took place a brief period following a reported pursuit in the area. While initial confirmation from the Sheriffs Department was absent, later a department official shared with KTLAs Chip Yost that the deputy was indeed involved in a pursuit when the crash happened. Lt. Kari Klaus additionally mentioned that the pursuit was related to a reported stolen vehicle.
Aerial coverage provided by Sky5 revealed a dire scene, with a severed vehicle and an individual, who appeared to be deceased, close by. KTLAs Shelby Nelson later confirmed at least one fatality at the scene, a SBSD deputy. The deputys identity is yet to be released. Apart from the deputy, a woman was also injured in the accident. She was transported to a nearby hospital for further care, her condition is currently undisclosed. The woman, who was in the drivers seat at the time of the crash, was alone in her vehicle.
