On Thursday afternoon, fire crews responded swiftly to a plane crash that took place on the 2300 block of West Raymer Avenue. The accident occurred right next to the Fullerton Municipal Airport and necessitated urgent evacuations in the surrounding area. An unspecified number of casualties has been reported due to the incident.
Following its crash, the plane subsequently caused a structure fire, potentially leaning towards the scenario that the plane crashed into a structure, possibly a warehouse. Footage from Sky5 provided confirmation that a commercial building was struck, visible through a large hole in the buildings roof and a noticeable absence of visible plane wreckage. Firefighters were observed combating the perpetuating fire from within the warehouse.
The Fullerton Police Department confirmed the planes crash and ongoing evacuations. As per the last update at 2:40 p.m., the police reported an unknown number of casualties. First responders were seen tending to an indeterminate number of injured persons on the ground, and several ambulances were on standby to rush the injured to nearby hospitals as the situation required. The current total injury count arising from the incident is unclear.
A video shared on the Citizen App depicted smoke rising from the crash site. The immediate aftermath of the crash was marked by a significant plume of black smoke ensuing from the crash site, fire trucks rushing towards the origin, and firefighters assessing the gravity of the situation from a proximate roof. The police urged drivers to refrain from using the roads directly adjacent to the crash site which were closed. More details on the situation are expected to emerge in due course.
