On Monday morning, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD). The collision occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Willow Street.

The police reported that the woman was crossing the road through a marked crosswalk at the time she was hit by a 2005 GMC making a right turn from Willow Street onto Long Beach Boulevard. Upon their arrival at the scene, officers found the woman unconscious and lying in the roadway. Immediate medical aid was administered to the victim by both the bystanders and officers, prior to her transportation to a nearby hospital by paramedics. Despite their efforts, the woman was declared deceased at the hospital.

The driver involved in the collision, a 61-year-old resident of Long Beach, remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the investigation conducted by the officers. The authorities have stated that they do not have any reason to believe the driver was under influence at the time of the incident. Law enforcement has held back on releasing the identity of the deceased pedestrian, pending the notification of her kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
