At approximately 11 a.m. on December 27, 2024, the California Highway Patrol responded to a multi-vehicle accident on Angeles Forest Highway, Los Angeles County. The incident involved at least two vehicles, a Maserati sports car and a Toyota van. A third vehicle, suspected to be a Porsche, was located near the crash scene.

The Maserati, discovered off the roadway, was ablaze upon the arrival of the first responders. Firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department managed to douse the flames and extract the individuals inside by 11:15 a.m. The scorched remnants of the luxury sports vehicle suggested a violent collision. The major damage on the second vehicle, the Toyota van, indicated that this vehicle was directly involved in the incident. The van was later extracted from the scene on a flatbed by recovery services.

In the aftermath, a total of three individuals were evacuated from the scene and transported to a nearby hospital. Out of these, one was reported to be in critical condition.

Authorities suspect that street racing between the Maserati and possibly the Porsche may have precipitated the accident. However, the circumstances leading up to the crash are still under investigation.

For over an hour, the affected stretch of the highway was closed to facilitate cleanup and initial investigations. By 12:20 p.m., all lanes on the roadway had been reopened for traffic, according to the CHP incident log.
