Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department have engaged in the pursuit of two alleged stolen vehicles late Monday evening. The two vehicles in question are reported to be models of Kia Soul and Kia Optima, both South Korean manufactured passenger cars.

One of the individual drivers was initially reported to be in control of the Kia Optima, but has since reportedly left this vehicle and joined the other suspect in the Kia Soul. The motives and circumstances behind this maneuver remain undetermined at this time.

After transiting on numerous surface streets in the core downtown area of Los Angeles, the suspects have been confirmed to merge onto the northbound lanes of the 101 Freeway from the 110 Freeway. Later on during the pursuit, the driver is said to have taken the Hollywood Boulevard exit, where a traffic infraction occurred. This infraction was the act of running a red light, which almost concluded in a collision with a Metro bus as the suspects accelerated up the ramp of the southbound 101 Freeway.

As this situation continues to develop, LAPD is utilizing aerial surveillance, with Sky5 present to monitor the pursuit from overhead. Pending further developments or official statements from LAPD, additional context or details surrounding this pursuit are yet to be confirmed.
