An incident occurred on Wednesday in South Los Angeles involving a collision between a LA Metro train and a vehicle, specifically a Nissan sedan. The mishap took place in the Florence-Graham neighborhood near the intersection of Nadeau Street and Graham Avenue on the Metro A Line. Unlike many railway segments, this portion is not separated from street traffic.
Following the incident, the Nissan sedan was evidenced to have sustained heavy front end damage and was left disabled on the set of tracks. The Metro train halted its operation near this scene. Images captured by Sky5 displayed crews examining the extent of the damage inflicted on the train. By approximately 12:30 p.m., Metro staff began assisting with the evacuation of passengers.
The details regarding the actual collision remain scarce. However, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported that one individual was transported to a local hospital post-accident. The individuals health condition remains unknown. In response to the incident, the intersection was temporarily shut down for investigative purposes, facilitated by deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department.
During the early aftermath, Metro train service was suspended between the Slauson and Firestone stations. In response, buses were utilized as an alternate transportation means. However, at around 1 p.m., it was announced that trains will share the track bound for Long Beach, signaling a resumption of the rail service. Further details regarding this development are to be released.
