A tragic accident was reported this week in Palmdale, California where a minor riding a “pocket bike” lost his life subsequent to colliding with a Harley-Davidson. This incident also resulted in serious injury to the rider of the motorcycle. Law enforcement personnel were called to the scene on 20th Street East near Avenue L-8 shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday.
This incident occurred when the male juvenile, riding the pocket bike, was believed to be crossing the 20th Street East northbound lane in a northeast direction. At the same time, a man riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound on the same street, closing in on Avenue L-8. The Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department reports that the motorcycle went on to hit the pocket bike in the northbound lane. Its important to note that the pocket bike was not equipped with a headlight or taillight, which is a crucial safety measure for vehicles traveling after dusk.
The juvenile, whose identity has not been disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained. The motorcycle rider, also unidentified, was seriously injured and immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The Sheriffs Department is pursuing an ongoing investigation into the accident circumstances, urging anyone who might have valuable information to get in touch with the Palmdale Stations Traffic Unit.
