A woman displaying obvious signs of intoxication was arrested following a vehicular pursuit and subsequent crash of her Tesla vehicle. The incident took place overnight and was initiated by law enforcement officers in Reseda on Wednesday just prior to 12:30 a.m.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported that the officers first attempted to halt the woman on Sherman Way near Haskell Avenue but were unsuccessful, thus leading to a short vehicle pursuit.
The chase concluded approximately 30 seconds later when the Tesla collided with a Toyota pickup truck at the intersection of Sherman and Lindley Avenue. Following the accident, assistance was provided to the woman by the responding officers at the scene. The video footage revealed her difficulty in maintaining an upright position, leading to her being escorted to an LAPD squad vehicle in handcuffs.
Further reports highlighted that both the Tesla and pickup truck sustained significant damage due to the collision. The Toyotas driver received on-site treatment for minor injuries. The detained Tesla driver, a 60-year-old woman, was subsequently arrested on charges of driving under the influence, as confirmed by the LAPD.
