On March 1, a hit-and-run incident left a pedestrian identified as a resident of San Pedro in critical condition in Los Angeless Koreatown neighborhood. The victim was crossing the street at the intersection of Western Avenue and 1st Street around 6:30 p.m. when a vehicle, potentially a Toyota Camry sedan, collided with him at high speed.

The perpetrator failed to stop and instead continued to speed away from the scene. The vehicle involved in the incident is described as a gray four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota Camry. The collision was forceful enough to catapult the victim onto the cars windshield and roof, from where he subsequently fell onto the road.

Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition as of Tuesday night. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has reiterated to drivers the importance of stopping and notifying emergency services if they are involved in a collision. LAPD also urges pedestrians to exercise caution when crossing streets, obey traffic signals, use marked crosswalks, and adhere to road rules.

A reward of up to $25,000 is offered for information that leads to the drivers identification, apprehension, and conviction. Public individuals with any knowledge about this incident are encouraged to contact Officer Hurd of LAPDs South Traffic Division at 213-321-9681 or call LAPD directly at 1-877-527-3247.
