A high-speed pursuit initiated by California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers in West Los Angeles ended with a crash into a residence on Saturday night. Preliminary data indicates the pursuit began around 9:45 p.m. on the northbound section of the 405 Freeway near the Sepulveda Boulevard exit, prompted by the drivers failure to yield.
The driver, operating a burgundy Dodge Durango, subsequently exited the freeway, made a turn, and headed south on the 405 before finally exiting at Culver Boulevard in Culver City. Shortly after, the sports utility vehicle (SUV) collided with a guardrail and then a house.
The four occupants of the vehicle required extraction by first responders. None of the vehicles passengers, nor anyone inside the home, sustained serious injuries. In an incident update around 9 a.m., a CHP spokesperson reported that three of the four individuals had been arrested and a firearm was recovered at the crash site. Their identities and the exact nature of their charges remain undisclosed.
One passenger, speaking to OnSceneTV, described the terrifying ordeal, recounting successive impacts and fearing for his life during the collision. Video documentation from the scene shows police detaining the driver.
A subsequent inspection deemed the house unsafe for occupation, resulting in it being red-tagged. As investigations continue, further updates are expected to be released.
