General Motors (GM), a leading American multinational corporation, has issued a recall of certain Cadillac LYRIQ all-wheel-drive vehicles released in the years 2023-2024. The company reported a defect tied to the service brakes on these vehicles. The identified issue involves the anti-lock brake system (ABS) activating unpredictably, leading to a release of brake pressure in the vehicles service brake system.
This malfunction can lead to a significant loss of braking ability, greatly increasing the risk of a crash. Therefore, to ensure the safety of Cadillac LYRIQ owners, and all road users in general, the manufacturer has made the decision for an immediate recall.
Cadillac LYRIQ owners are advised to contact Cadillacs customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or EV Concierge at 1-844-EV-CADILLAC (1-844-382-2345) for more information, with GMs recall number for this issue being N242453471. To remedy the defect, GM will update the electronic brake control module software of affected vehicles. This can be done through an over-the-air (OTA) update or undertaken by a dealer. The company assures affected LYRIQ owners that this service will be provided free of charge.
As of September 3, 2024, GM has initiated the process of informing owners about the issue and the subsequent recall by mailing notification letters. Owners of the affected models are encouraged to take immediate action to prevent any potential mishaps on the road.
