A tragic accident took place this Sunday in Playa Del Rey, resulting in the untimely demise of a female pedestrian. According to information provided by the Los Angeles Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol, a two-car collision led one of the cars to careen off the road and onto the beach, where it struck and killed the pedestrian.

The incident happened right after 7 p.m. at the location of 8255 South Vista Del Mar, though the specifics of the accident still remain unclear. The driver of the car that struck the woman, a man believed to be around 70 years old, sustained only minor injuries, despite the vehicle falling onto the beach.

Eyewitnesses uploaded videos of the accidents aftermath to the Citizen App. The footage showed the mans heavily-damaged vehicle resting on the beach. Also visible was the driver, engaged in conversation with police officers present at the scene. A white canopy was erected to cover the victims body directly behind the crash site.

Preliminary data suggests that Vista Del Mar was temporarily closed to vehicle traffic as investigators processed the accident scene. However, no details were provided regarding the involvement or condition of the second driver from the initial two-car collision. Investigators have not yet released any information suggesting that drugs or alcohol played a factor in this unfortunate event. More updates to follow as the investigation progresses.
