A tragic event occurred in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles when an 87-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident.

The incident was reported at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Monday. The elderly woman was walking in a westward direction within a designated crosswalk found at the intersection of Berkeley Avenue and Allesandro Street. The perpetrator, driving a dark-colored Ford Transit van, collided with the woman while travelling south on Allesandro.

According to the information provided by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the driver fled the scene without stopping to offer assistance or report to police. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. So far, her identity has not been publicly disclosed.

The LAPD has announced a reward of up to $50,000 for anyone able to provide information leading to the identification and subsequent conviction of the person responsible for this hit-and-run.
