A fatal hit-and-run incident was reported in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Monday. An elderly woman, aged 87, lost her life after being struck by a driver who failed to stop post-collision.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), the victim was crossing the intersection of Berkeley Avenue and Allesandro Street, walking westbound, when she was hit by a dark-colored Ford Transit van. The driver of the vehicle was going southbound on Allesandro Street at the time of the accident.

The driver left the site of the accident without providing assistance to the victim or contacting authorities. The woman was pronounced dead at the accident scene. Her identity has not yet been disclosed to the public.

As of the most recent update on Saturday, no information concerning a potential suspect was available. To aid in the identification and subsequent conviction of the hit-and-run suspect, a reward of up to $50,000 has been announced.
