A fatal high-speed collision occurred in Santa Ana, California, on the morning of December 21, 2024, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old resident.

The crash occurred near the junction of Harbor Boulevard and Croddy Way at approximately 9:20 a.m. The deceased was identified as Reuben Contreras, a Santa Ana local, by the Orange County Coroners Office.

Surveillance footage from the scene showed two vehicles involved in the incident, a Toyota Camry sedan and a GMC pickup truck. The sequence of events leading to the collision revealed that the Camry was making a left turn and was hit by the speeding pickup truck. The resultant impact caused the truck to flip and propelled the sedan into a light pole.

The collision resulted in both vehicles being totaled with the Camry ending up near a light pole and the truck flipping over. Tragically, Contreras was discovered unresponsive among the wreckage. Emergency personnel declared him dead at the scene. The male driver of the pickup truck suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Santa Ana Police Department. Preliminary reports suggest that neither drugs nor alcohol were likely contributing factors. Locals have noted that the particular stretch of road where the accident happened is notorious for speeding incidents.
