A serious collision on the 91 Freeway near the Orange County-Riverside County line, resulted in at least one fatality early Wednesday morning. The incident was precipitated by a vehicle that stalled around 1 a.m. in the eastbound lanes just east of the 241 Toll Road.
Approximately five minutes following the initial stall, a second vehicle rear-ended the stationary car. This collision instigated one of the involved vehicles to ignite. California Highway Patrol reported that this subsequently led to debris scattering across the freeway lanes. Firefighters were quick to respond, extinguishing the vehicle blaze.
The crash appeared to involve at least two other vehicles, although the specifics of their involvement is yet undisclosed. Emergency crews were on the scene of the fatal crash in Orange County on Feb. 26, 2025, details provided by OnScene.TV. Further precision regarding the incident, including information about potential injuries, has yet to be relayed. However, the presence of a coroners van, which was dispatched to the scene at 2 a.m., signifies the severity of the crash.

Shortly after the incident, all eastbound lanes were closed, with only a single lane temporarily reopened. Video footage indicates that all lanes were closed again just after 4 a.m. Around 6 a.m. the freeway was cleared, nonetheless an unrelated crash westbound near Green River Road exacerbated existing traffic delays, particularly affecting commuters traveling from the Corona area in Riverside County.
