A fatal crash, caused by a wrong-way driver, led to the closure of southbound lanes on the 405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks on the morning of February 11, 2025. The incident began at approximately 4 a.m., when the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported a vehicle traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the freeway.
A collision involving three to four vehicles ensued near Valley Vista Boulevard, blocking several lanes of traffic. According to the CHP, the wrong-way driver caused the fatal accident, resulting in one confirmed fatality and at least one other individual being transported to a nearby hospital. The condition of the transported individual remains unknown.
The identities of the victims and details regarding the vehicles they occupied have not been disclosed. All southbound lanes were initially closed under a SigAlert, but by 6:15 a.m., the two right lanes had reopened. As this is an ongoing investigation, additional details about the accident are expected to emerge.
