A fatal crash unfolded on Highway 118, Ventura County, early Sunday morning as reported by the California Highway Patrol (CHP). Both a pedestrian and a motorcyclist lost their lives in the incident. According to CHP officers, the report of the crash reached them at around 6:05 a.m., which took place west of Rocky Peak Road in Moorpark.

Upon arrival, an unoccupied vehicle was found in the center of the median. To the east of the car, officers discovered a 33-year-old Canoga Park woman and a 54-year-old Simi Valley man, both pronounced dead at the scene. CHP is withholding the victims identities until their families have been informed.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the womans Nissan Altima initially collided with the right-hand guardrail, causing the car to spin uncontrollably across westbound Highway 118 lanes before crashing into the center median wall. Following the crash, the woman had exited the vehicle and was standing in the first lane, leading to the motorcyclist colliding with her.

CHP stated that the severity of the impact resulted in the mans ejection from his 2020 Triumph Truxton motorcycle, leaving both bodies and the motorcycle scattered across the roadway. As of yet, no arrests have been made, and the degree of alcohol or drugs involvement, if any, is yet to be established.

Following the incident, life three westbound lanes of Highway 118 near Rocky Peak Road were temporarily closed for approximately four hours. During this time, traffic was rerouted through the right lane.
