A police chase that began in Commerce due to a failed traffic stop resulted in a fatal car crash, as confirmed by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) authorities. The attempted traffic stop was made on Florence Avenue at around 11:13 pm on a Saturday night. The driver in question failed to yield, which initiated the police chase.

During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle was reported to be running multiple red lights at high speeds. For safety reasons, the CHP decided to call off the chase shortly after it began. Unfortunately, soon after the cancellation of the pursuit, the suspect vehicle crashed near the intersection of Randolph Street and Eastern Avenue.

Responding paramedics announced one fatality at the scene from the occupants of the crashed vehicle. At least one other occupant was transported to a nearby hospital; their condition remains unclear. The immediate aftermath of the collision was marked by debris scattered across the roadway. The suspect vehicle, identified as a white sedan, was severely damaged.

A witness claims that the high-speed crash might have involved an innocent bystander. The eyewitness account included the details of a struck pedestrian victim. However, the CHP spokesperson could not confirm if a pedestrian was a casualty at the scene. Further details revealed that three individuals from the suspect vehicle were detained, although one managed to escape on foot. The current state of their custody status remains unclear.

The investigation into this fatal crash is being conducted by the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department.
