On Tuesday, California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported a fatal accident on Highway 126 in Ventura County, which resulted in the death of two individuals. The unfortunate event happened east of Fillmore and caused significant traffic disruptions on Christmas Eve. The information about the incident was propagated through social networks at 3:53 p.m., according to authorities.

The type of collision was described as head-on, resulting in two fatalities. The identities of the victims were not disclosed as of Tuesday evening. Furthermore, the CHP Moorpark shared that it remained unclear whether there were additional passengers in the vehicles at the time of the accident or if other vehicles were involved in any way.

As a consequence of the collision, congestion occurred on the eastbound lanes of Highway 126 passing through Fillmore. To mitigate the traffic situation, authorities suggested alternate routes for commuting. These routes included the 126 leading to the 101 Freeway towards Ventura, the 126 heading to Grimes Canyon Road into Moorpark, and the 126 steering to Highway 118 towards Camarillo. Information on when normal traffic flow would resume was not provided at the time of the report.
