A customer was arrested by the police for deliberately driving his car into a CarMax dealership in Inglewood, California on Saturday afternoon. The incident led to eight injuries, out of which two individuals are in critical condition.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) reported receiving a call at 2:03 p.m. regarding a disturbance with a customer at the CarMax outlet located on La Cienega Boulevard. CarMax confirmed that the client was at the dealership for his cars appraisal. Additional details about the disruption with the customer were not immediately provided.

Post the altercation, the customer left the building, got into his car, and drove into the dealership causing injuries to several employees and other customers. The driver attempted to escape but was swiftly detained and arrested by LAPD at a nearby location. The suspect is currently under the custody of the Inglewood Police Department. The identity of the suspect has not been disclosed by the officials yet.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACFD) initially received the incident report as an active shooter but upon reaching the location, they modified the report to vehicle into a structure and called for additional assistance. Of the eight injured individuals, two are critically hurt and have been taken to the hospital, while the less severely injured were treated on the scene.

LAPD confirmed all the injured persons as stable as of 5:45 p.m. CarMax has issued a statement on Saturday evening, expressing deep sadness over the event and reassuring its commitment towards the safety of its employees, community, and customers. The company has initiated a plan of action in response to the incident and is cooperating with the authorities in their investigation.
