A serious collision occurred on Wednesday afternoon in South Los Angeles when a vehicle collided with an LA Metro train. The collision took place in the Florence-Graham neighborhood near the intersection of Nadeau Street and Graham Avenue on the Metro A Line, a segment not separated from vehicle traffic.

The driver, operating a black Nissan sedan, reportedly broke through a crossing gate, colliding with the northbound A-line train at the Nadeau intersection. The extent of the Nissan sedans damage was substantial, post-collision images show a heavily damaged front end.

The LA Metro train temporarily sat immobilized on another set of tracks as crews evaluated the damages; Metro staff were observed evacuating riders around 12:30 p.m. The driver of the sedan was rushed to a local hospital, but their condition was not immediately disclosed.

No train riders were reported injured, according to Metro officials. Post-accident investigation necessitated the closure of the intersection involved. The Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department was summoned to conduct the investigation.

Between the Slauson and Firestone stations, Metro train service was temporarily put on hold and buses were employed as an alternative. However, by 1 p.m., Metro announced that trains would share the Long Beach-bound track and rail service was resumed. Due to several lines intersecting with vehicle traffic, LA Metro officials reiterated their call to drivers to be rail safe, urging attention to crossing gates and warning signs.
