A deadly road accident occurred on the 405 Freeway, Sherman Oaks on Feb. 1, 2025. According to a report from California Highway Patrol (CHP), a wrong-way driver triggered the calamity, which has led to all southbound lanes of the freeway being temporarily closed.

The incident was first reported at around 4 a.m., when an unidentified driver was observed heading northbound on the southbound side of the freeway.

Shortly after, a subsequent collision involving three to four vehicles took place near Valley Vista Boulevard, leading to multiple lane closures on the freeway. Reports confirm that one individual was fatally injured in the crash, and at least one other individual was transported to a medical facility in uncertain physical condition.

The identities of those involved in the fatal crash, including details on the vehicles they were traveling in, have not been disclosed as of now.

Further, CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of all southbound lanes of the freeway. The timeline for lane reopenings remains unclear, as investigations are ongoing to gather more information on this incident.
