Los Angeles Firefighters Respond to Chatsworth Townhome Fire

On Wednesday, firefighters in Los Angeles switched to offensive mode to combat a fire that had invaded at least one unit in a row of townhomes. This was according to multiple provided reports from the California Highway Patrol and other news sources. The fire was initially reported at approximately 11:30 a.m. on North Larwin Avenues 10100 block.

Large columns of white smoke were observable emanating from at least one of the townhome units. This scene was captured by the video from Sky5. Authorities identified that the fire began as a vehicle fire in the garage attached to one unit. From there, it proceeded to engulf the entire garage before potentially extending into the adjoining living area.

The firefighting team managed to halt the spread of the blaze to the neighboring properties. By 11:55 a.m., it was evident that the fire was coming under control. This fire incident occurred inside a Chatsworth townhome on March 5, 2025.

The firefighting crews gained an upper hand due to favorable weather conditions. A rainfall that morning had soaked much of the area, which was anticipated to persist intermittently throughout the day. According to KTLAs Rich Prickett in Sky5, the inhabitants of the affected home were able to evacuate safely without incurring any injuries, a fact later confirmed by LAFD. To ensure that the blaze did not spread further, additional firefighters were deployed, and a primary and secondary search was conducted. Presently, the fire is undergoing an investigation.

California Man Arrested in Connection to Vehicle Fraud Scheme

A man identified as Sebastian Flores was taken into custody following an investigation into a suspected vehicle fraud operation. Flores was detained in Corona, California, after he was exposed by a victim of his scheme. The victim had initially identified a vehicle for sale on Craigslist and after apparent verification of legitimate DMV documents, had paid Flores $23,000 for the car. Detectives revealed that Flores had orchestrated the fraud by renting vehicles through the car-sharing platform Turo and fabricating the vehicles title. The second individual, Lasso Floris, attempted to flee but was stopped. Floris was found to have a felony warrant for trafficking stolen vehicles.

Early on Monday morning, the westbound 10 Freeway in Pomona was temporarily closed due to a collision involving a FedEx truck and another vehicle. The traffic incident was reported to have occurred around 4:15 a.m. close to the 57 Freeway, according to information provided by the California Highway Patrol.

The extent of the injuries resulting from the crash, if any, was not known immediately after the incident. As a consequence of this traffic event, a SigAlert was issued, officially announcing the closure of all westbound lanes on the 10 Freeway for the necessary accident response actions.

The repercussion of this incident extended to surrounding traffic, with reports indicating a significant buildup. There were delays for motorists on the westbound 10 Freeway due to the diversion onto the 57 Freeway to avoid the accident scene. This diversion was part of the operation to manage the spillage of oil from the vehicles involved onto the roadway.

Traffic was reported as being backed up for a 2 to 3 mile stretch on the westbound side of the freeway at 5:30 a.m. Progress was made, and by 8:19 a.m., the freeway was reported as cleared. The lanes were then reopened to the public, marking approximately four hours from the initial crash report to complete traffic restoration on the westbound 10 Freeway.
