Pet Store in Los Angeles County Damaged by a Truck Accident

A Los Angeles County pet store incurred significant damage when a customers pickup truck mistakenly drove into the store. The incident occurred at Wess Pets & Feeds, 4424 N. Peck Road, and was promptly attended to by officers from the El Monte Police Department just before 10 a.m. A video provided by KTLA revealed the presence of a white Ford F-150 inside the destroyed store, which had been cordoned off by yellow police tape. As a result, the premises were red-tagged by city officials deeming the structure as unsafe for anyone to enter.

In addition, the L.A. County Fire crews were also mobilized to the location. Luckily, no injuries were reported during this incident. The Wess Pet & Feed store suffered immense structural damage due to the accident, as evidenced in images from RMG News taken on Dec. 4, 2024.

Store owners, Mario and Mabel Flores reported that the possible impact of the accident on the animals, mainly chickens, is still unclear. This uncertainty is due to their inability to access the almost century-old building, which has been their shops location for the past eight years. Chickens were spotted in a coop unharmed, and a box of baby chickens was observed outside the damaged structure.

What brings relief is the fact that all people were able to evade the incoming vehicle in time. Despite the significant disturbance, no arrests were made and no citations were issued following the incident.

Mishap in Los Angeles County Pet Store Causes Extensive Damage

A Los Angeles County pet store experienced a highly unusual event when a customer accidentally drove their pickup truck straight into the storefront. The mishap occurred at Wess Pets & Feeds, located at 4424 N. Peck Road, and initiated a response from the El Monte Police Department who arrived on site just before 10 a.m.

Apart from the El Monte Police Department, L.A. County Fire crews were also dispatched. Upon arrival, they discovered a white Ford F-150 fully embedded in the structure of the pet store. The store had been marked with yellow police tape and declared unsafe for re-entry by city officials as it had been red tagged due to the extensive damage.

Fortunately, no human casualties were reported in this incident. The damage to the property, however, was considerable. Images provided by RMG News illustrate the extent of the inflicted damage on multiple dates.

The owners of the store, Mario and Mabel Flores, expressed their concerns about the welfare of the animals housed at their facility, especially the chickens and fowl, as they have not been able to enter the nearly century-old building. Though, visuals from the site suggest that some of the chickens, which were kept in a coop to the side, might have remained untouched by the incident. There were also apparently untouched boxes of baby chickens outside the ravaged structure.

The Flores expressed relief that no people were hurt at the time, including those who were near the building entrance when the incident occurred. The police, having investigated the incident, didnt make arrests or issue any citation. It appears that the crash was an unforeseen accident.
