Ojai Man Arrested Following Robbery and Car Chase

An Ojai resident, Fidencio Ramirez, aged 32, was taken into custody in the early hours of Wednesday after allegedly committing a theft at a Circle K gas station situated on North Ventura Avenue in Ojai and subsequently leading law enforcement authorities on a car chase.

The robbery took place shortly before 3 am, with Ventura County Sheriffs Department deputies from the Ojai station responding promptly to the incident. According to employee reports, the suspect entered the establishment and threatened a staff member with a knife before fleeing with stolen goods, which included both alcohol and cigarettes.

Following the issuance of a suspect and vehicle description by the dispatchers, the latter was found in close proximity to the crime scene. A law enforcement officer attempted to halt the vehicle, however, the driver instigated a short-lived pursuit.

The driver, later identified as Ramirez, eventually conceded and was arrested. A search of his vehicle yielded the stolen goods and video footage from the crime scene further reinforced the evidence of his involvement in the crime.

Ramirez, also a parole violator, has been remanded in the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura on the charges of robbery and evasion. His bail has been set at $100,000.

High-Speed Chase in Ventura County Ends in Fatal Crash

A report has emerged regarding a fatal car crash following a high-speed pursuit in Ventura County. The chase began around 10:20 p.m. on a recent Sunday night. The incident began in an unincorporated community south of Camarillo, according to information released by the Ventura County Sheriffs Office.

The driver involved was identified as Jose Meza, a 46-year-old from Moorpark. He reportedly fled from a California Highway Patrol officer who tried to stop him on suspicion of driving under the influence and violating other, unspecified vehicle codes. This sparked a chase that led into Camarillo along Las Posas Road and eventually onto the southbound 101 Freeway.

A unit from the California Highway Patrol and a cruiser from the Sheriffs Department were engaged in the pursuit. Meza reportedly drove erratically and at excessive speeds, surpassing 100 miles per hour. Following this, he made an unsuccessful attempt to exit via the Lewis Road off-ramp and collided with a guard rail. This resulted in him being ejected from his vehicle.

At the scene, officers and deputies treated Meza before he was transported to a local hospital via ambulance. Unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead at the medical facility. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the CHP, says Sheriffs Office, leading to an ongoing investigation by both agencies. Anyone who may have witnessed this event is encouraged to contact Sheriffs Detective Luke Riordan at 805-388-5120.

Body Believed to Be Last Missing Passenger Found in Ventura County Cliffside Crash

On December 7, the Ventura County Search and Rescue team (VCSAR) discovered a body underneath thick foliage in treacherous terrain. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicated the body is likely the final missing passenger from a cliffside crash that occurred on December 1 on Deer Creek Road.

The crash was not reported to the CHP until December 2, after the reporting party claimed to have exited the vehicle and acquired a lift on a nearby road. The other two occupants in the vehicle remained unaccounted for at that time. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a white Cadillac Escalade down the cliff. Neither the driver nor the other passenger had been heard from since the incident.

A comprehensive search effort encompassing multiple agencies was launched to locate the remaining occupants. Despite efforts, the search was discontinued four hours later due to darkness and hazardous terrain. Later that day, fire officials announced that one of the missing occupants had been found at their residence. A search of the vehicle was carried out around 9 p.m., but the other missing individual was not found, and the search was suspended until the following Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, VCSAR employed a helicopter to continue the search during daylight hours. Still, the whereabouts of the missing occupant remained uncertain. A missing person report was subsequently filed on December 6. CHP requested VCSAR to search the area again on December 7, resulting in the discovery of the dead body. The identity of the discovered body and the reasons behind the delayed crash reporting remain undisclosed. CHP is continuing its investigation.

Last Missing Passenger Found Following Ventura County Cliffside Crash

Search and witness reports provided by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) detail an ongoing investigation into a cliffside crash in Ventura County that occurred on December 1. The final missing passenger believed to be involved in the incident was found on December 7 by the Ventura County Search and Rescue team (VCSAR).

The crash was discovered near Deer Creek Road, where a white Cadillac Escalade was located at the bottom of a cliff. However, the incident was not reported until approximately noon on December 2. The reporting party claimed they exited the vehicle post-crash, hiked to a nearby road, and secured transport from there, noting a lack of contact with the other two occupants of the vehicle thereafter.

Upon their arrival on December 2, CHP officers learned that neither the driver nor the additional passenger had been in contact since the crash. A comprehensive search operation was conducted across multiple agencies to locate the missing individuals, but no discovery was made before the search was paused four hours later due to inadequate lighting and challenging terrain.

The same day, fire officials confirmed that one of the missing occupants was found at their residence. By approximately 9 p.m., responders managed to access and search the vehicle, though could not locate the second missing occupant before suspending their search until the following Tuesday morning.

On the subsequent Tuesday, a CHP update disclosed that VCSAR conducted a helicopter search during daylight hours but remained unsuccessful in locating the final occupant. As a result, a missing person report was filed for this individual on December 6, prompting VCSAR to conduct a further search of the area on December 7. This search resulted in the discovery of a deceased body. Till now, it remains unclear why the crash was not reported earlier and whether the deceased is the driver or another passenger. The investigation is still pending, as stated by CHP.

Local law enforcement agencies are on the hunt for an unidentified individual who utilized a stolen truck in a sequence of destructive events early Wednesday morning in South Los Angeles. This incident was reported around 4:45 a.m. in the vicinity of East 92nd Street and Bandera Street in the Florence-Firestone neighborhood. Surveillance footage documented the vehicles briefly stationary before the collision.

The pickup notably displaced the womans sedan to the side of the street, causing it to collide with several parked cars in the area.
