Heroic Driver Prevents Fire-Engulfed Truck from Crashing into Orange County Homes

A driver is being acclaimed for her intervention which prevented a garbage truck, on fire, from crashing into Orange County homes on Friday morning. The event occurred around 7:50 am on Mount Triumph Way, Yorba Linda, with the truck catching fire just a few feet from a residence.

The homeowners, Mark and Candice Holman reported that their children were in bed at the time of the incident. Candice expressed concerns about the potential danger as the fire approached the vehicles gas tank. Before its momentum was halted, the truck damaged two of the Holmans new vehicles and ignited the adjacent hillside, posing a risk to the drivers life.

Mark Holman described the situation as bad, with a fully engulfed tree. However, authorities noted that the outcome could have been worse, if not for the truck operator who bravely prevented the fire from spreading.

The driver had abandoned her truck at the start of the fire, but heroically returned to apply the emergency brake, preventing its uncontrolled descent down the street. Officials reported that the driver did not sustain any injuries.

Sean Doran, Orange County Fire Authority Captain, praised the outcome, considering the potential consequences: a runaway, burning vehicle could have crashed into a house, and the driver could have been run over.

Some of the Holmans Christmas presents, stored in their vehicles, were lost to the fire. Candice noted that their losses, albeit material, were replaceable and praised the driver for risking her life to protect houses. A full investigation into the fires cause has been announced by the Orange County Fire Authority.

Heroic Driver Stops Engulfed Trash Truck from Crashing into Homes

A trash truck in Yorba Linda, Orange County, caught fire on Friday morning, nearly causing a tragic accident. The event unfolded around 7:50 a.m. on Mount Triumph Way, with the inflamed vehicle being stopped just a short distance from a local residence, according to available home surveillance video. The owners of the threatened house, Mark and Candice Holman, reported that the incident occurred while their children were still asleep.

The burning vehicle continued to pose a significant danger as it collided with two brand-new trucks owned by the Holmans and started a fire on the nearby hillside. Concerns were heightened due to proximity to a gas tank. The operator of the trash truck risked her life, re-entering the burning vehicle in an attempt to activate the emergency break and prevent the truck from causing further damage.

Orange County Fire Authority Captain Sean Doran commended her actions and confirmed the operator was not injured during the event. Her bravery arguably prevented the situation from escalating into a far more disastrous scenario. This incident could have resulted in the vehicle rolling downhill and striking a residence. Consequently, the driver herself could have been severely struck by the truck she was handling.

In the aftermath, the Holmans reported that some Christmas presents stored in their vehicles were lost to the fire but expressed relief that their family was safe and that material things could be replaced. The fires cause is currently under investigation by the Orange County Fire Authority.

Man Arrested For Purposefully Crashing Into Patrol Cars in San Bernardino County

On December 16th, a man was arrested under the accusation that he had purposefully crashed his car into deputies following a pursuit in San Bernardino County. The San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department confirmed that the man, identified as 52-year-old Stephen Bloomer from Twentynine Palms, was responsible for the incident.

Deputies first noticed the suspect when he was seen speeding in a Corvette on Twentynine Palms Highway, near Torres Avenue intersection in Joshua Tree, slightly before 1:00 pm. When authorities attempted to pull over Bloomer, he continued to drive in an erratic manner, leading to a chase by patrol units. Out of concern for the safety of other drivers, the pursuing deputies eventually called off the chase.

According to reports, a California Highway Patrol officer spotted Bloomer in his Corvette at a Circle K in Morongo Valley later in the day. The officer tried to apprehend Bloomer, at which point Bloomer reversed his car and crashed into the CHP vehicle. A second deputy, who arrived at the scene and parked their patrol car nearby, was targeted as Bloomer accelerated and intentionally crashed into the occupied patrol vehicle. The deputy inside the patrol car suffered minor injuries, was transported to the hospital, treated, and later released.

Bloomer was subsequently arrested at the scene. The charges are attempted murder of a peace officer and felony assault on a peace officer. An ongoing investigation of the incident is being conducted by the department. San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department is urging anyone with additional information to get in touch with Deputy Richard Maldonado or Detective Tyler A. Inglewood Shoe Store Hit by Smash-and-Grab Robbery

A shoe store located in Inglewood, California, was the target of a smash-and-grab robbery carried out by several individuals on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. The incident, which was caught on the stores surveillance cameras, involved the use of a reportedly stolen vehicle, which was driven directly into the stores front, leading to significant structural damage and disarray.

Michael Acevedo, the store owner, communicated to KTLA via email that the break-in took place during the early hours of the morning. After wreaking destruction on the stores front, the suspect driving the vehicle exited the car, quickly followed by the arrival of an additional vehicle. Two further individuals alighted from the second car and proceeded to join the original assailant in seizing items from the shop.

In the aftermath, it is currently uncertain the total value of the property thieved from the premises by the participating individuals, all of whom appear to be young men. Expressing his dismay at the event, Acevedo disclosed that the frequency of break-ins has escalated since the inauguration of SoFi Stadium and the Intuit Dome. He further noted that this is the fourth robbery the store has been subjected to within a year.

Despite the damning evidence captured in the surveillance footage, there have been no arrests connected to the break-in at the time of reporting. KTLA has made attempts to contact the Inglewood Police Department for more information, and is currently awaiting their response.

Fatal Multi-Vehicle Pileup in Orange County Following Police Pursuit

An innocent woman, in her 60s, was tragically killed in an Orange County multi-vehicle accident that was caused by a man attempting to escape police pursuit on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Fullerton Police Department. Investigators revealed that the pursuit began when the officers noted a man, later identified as 40-year-old Anthony Hanzel of Anaheim, indulging in theft near the intersection of North Gilbert Street and West Malvern Avenue in Fullerton. Hanzel drove off the scene in a white Nissan Rogue, which initiated the chase when officers attempted to halt his vehicle.

Reportedly, Hanzel was involved in a preliminary non-injury collision near Brookhurst Road and Orangethorpe Avenue. The chase ensued onto the westbound 91 Freeway and ceased when the suspect exited at Knott Avenue, with the officers losing track of Hanzel.
