Early Monday morning in Long Beach, a chain of events triggered by a pair of burglaries resulted in two separate vehicular accidents. The Long Beach Police Department received a call about a burglary happening at 1145 Anaheim Street around 4:40 a.m. During the investigation at the site, an additional burglary report at 809 West 15th Street was relayed to officers on the scene, involving suspects matching the description from the first incident.

Upon reaching the second location, officers spotted two male suspects fleeing from the scene in their respective vehicles, which led to two separate city-authorized vehicle pursuits. One suspect attempted to escape via Pacific Coast Highway but crashed into an unoccupied vehicle and a fire hydrant in the 1700 block of Rose Avenue.

The second suspect was involved in another accident while traveling south on Pacific Avenue towards Ocean Avenue. This collision resulted in a vehicle being shunted into another vehicle. Photos of the scene show a wrecked, black sedan positioned in the center of the intersection in examination by the police. Two additional damaged cars were seen nearby, with one flipped onto its side.

Both accidents happened within a three-mile radius. The suspects, despite minor injuries, were taken into custody shortly after 9:30 a.m. pending medical clearance before their formal arrest. The two motorists involved in the Pacific and Ocean avenue accident suffered non-lethal injuries and were promptly provided medical aid. The stolen items were retrieved and an ongoing investigation is in progress.

A third-party report from Sky5 news mentioned one of the burgled stores was a cannabis dispensary, but this piece of information is yet to be confirmed by the local police.

One of the suspects departed via the Pacific Coast Highway, resulting in a collision with an unoccupied vehicle and a fire hydrant in the 1700 block of Rose Avenue. It was seen that large bags were being loaded into a vehicle at the scene while water surged out from the hydrant.

Further, in an unrelated incident, a collision occurred when the second suspect was driving down Pacific Avenue, heading towards Ocean Avenue. The impact caused the first impacted vehicle to subsequently hit another vehicle. At the scene, a destroyed black sedan was observed in the middle of the intersection along with two more damaged cars nearby.

The two drivers involved in the Pacific and Ocean crash were treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Both suspects involved in the burglaries were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and remain in custody pending medical clearance. Recovered stolen items were linked back to the burglaries. As of now, the investigation is ongoing.

In the aftermath of the collision, the black sedan appeared to be significantly damaged and was situated in the middle of the intersection during investigatory procedures. Nearby, two other vehicles depicted signs of damage, including one that was overturned.

A secondary crash involving a vehicle colliding with a fire hydrant was reported near Pacific Coast Highway and Rose Avenue, roughly three miles away from the initial crash. On-site witnesses reported Long Beach police officers transporting large bags into a vehicle at the scene while water flowed from under the vehicle that had severed the hydrant. The bags are alleged to contain products from the burgled dispensary, rendering possible a linkage between the two crashes.

A DUI suspect identified as Matthew Thomas Jackson, 37, a resident of Temecula, was arrested in connection to a fatal accident which took place in Riverside County. Jackson was apprehended following a traffic collision that resulted in the death of a juvenile on May 26, 2024. Riverside County Sheriffs Office charged Jackson with several counts including murder, grave vehicular manslaughter, operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs causing injury, and reckless driving causative to injury.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Butterfield Stage Road and Channel Street in Temecula. Jackson allegedly ignored the signal at a red light and caused a collision. Witnesses testified that Jackson abandoned his car and fled the scene. The victims of the accident, with injuries ranging from moderate to severe, were moved to a local hospital for treatment. Jackson was apprehended in close proximity and initially taken into custody but was later set free.

Following the tragic death of the hospitalized juvenile due to injuries sustained in the collision, the Riverside County District Attorneys Office proceeded to press additional charges against Jackson on December 30, 2024, leading to the issuance of another arrest warrant. The authorities located and arrested Jackson once again on January 17, 2025, at a residence on Venice Boulevard in Los Angeles. He was transported to the Cois Byrd Detention Center and is currently held on a $1 million bail. The identity of the juvenile victim was not disclosed by the authorities.

Two high school students from Orange County suffered severe injuries in an e-bike incident on Tuesday. The students, who remain unidentified, attend Brea Canyon High School. The collision took place on the State College Boulevard sidewalk near Avocado Street around 2:15 p.m.

According to the Brea Police Department, the e-bikes handlebar clipped a tree, launching the students into a brick wall. It was determined that neither student wore a helmet, leading to speculation of high-speed travel at the time of collision. On-site help from Good Samaritans provided the primary source of immediate medical assistance before law enforcement officers arrived.

“Both riders faced extensive injuries, with one suffering potentially life-threatening trauma. Both victims underwent immediate transportation to a nearby trauma center for emergency care,” stated the police. The specific nature of their injuries remains undisclosed.

The students and their families have been offered support services by the Brea Olinda Unified School District during this recovery period. Brea law enforcement also extended solidarity to the victims family and friends. Additionally, they acknowledged the passers-by who halted to assist the injured riders.
