A grave two-vehicle accident occurred on the northbound 405 Freeway near Wilshire Boulevard in West Los Angeles on Friday evening. The California Highway Patrol reported the accident at around 6:42 p.m., and the response teams from the Los Angeles Fire Department found one victim trapped inside a car requiring extrication.

The mishap involved a 72-year-old woman and a dog, both of whom were confirmed dead at the scene by the LAFD. Among the injured were an 80-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man, both reported to be in a critical state, and a 60-year-old woman who is currently in fair condition.

Furthermore, the collision provoked a shutdown of at least three lanes on the freeway, specifically the number 5 and 6 northbound lanes. Caltrans estimated that these lanes would remain closed for three hours to allow necessary operations at the site and advised drivers to tread with caution.
