On Wednesday, a woman succumbed to her injuries following a high-speed chase initiated by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) that concluded in a fatal crash on the 5 Freeway. Initial reports suggest that the woman was possibly ejected from the vehicle she was driving at the time of the incident.

The chase commenced around 1:45 p.m., with the LAPD pursuing an allegedly stolen Honda CR-V near the intersection of the eastbound 210 Freeway and Polk Street in Sylmar. Approximately 45 minutes later, the driver, identified only as a woman, was on the northbound 5 Freeway near Castaic. She was driving at speeds reportedly reaching up to 100 mph, prompting continued pursuit by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

In an effort to evade the CHP officers, the woman attempted a series of risky maneuvers. At one point, she feigned taking an exit only to promptly swing back onto the freeway before the pursuing CHP officer had a chance to follow suit. The chase ended in disaster around 3 p.m. when the woman crashed her vehicle while trying to exit the southbound 5 Freeway. It is hypothesized that she may have been ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The womans death was later confirmed by the CHP.
