A routine traffic stop in San Marino has resulted in the arrest of three men believed to have been conspiring theft. San Marino Police Department reports describe the suspects vehicle as lacking a license plate, arousing suspicion and prompting a stop in the 2300 block of Roanoke Road around 1 p.m. on a Friday.

The driver has been identified as 34-year-old Cesar Jimenez from Altadena, who was found to be under probation for burglary charges. A subsequent check of records revealed an outstanding warrant for Jimenez in another jurisdiction. The front passenger, named as Jesus Rodriguez, could present no identification but made it known that he was on parole for an assault charge. Detailed records revealed Rodriguez, aged 30 and an L.A. resident, to be serving parole for assaulting a peace officer or firefighter with a deadly weapon.

In the rear seat of the vehicle was 34-year-old Jose Jimenez-Aguilar, who was identified by one of the officers from a previous arrest by the San Marino police, despite him having no form of identification on his person. No information about any probation or parole was found in relation to Jimenez-Aguilar during a record check.

All three occupants were detained for further investigation. A search of the vehicle yielded a collection of gloves, face masks, finger covers, bolt cutters, a neck gator, and a drone. Given the evidence at hand, the police deduce that a grand theft of gardening equipment was being plotted by the suspects.

The arrestees were transported to the Pasadena City Jail for booking. Appropriate probation and parole holds were obtained for two of the suspects. One suspect was later moved to the L.A. County Sheriffs Department Inmate Reception Center for court proceedings, according to San Marino police.
