The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is currently conducting an extensive inquiry into a late-night incident that escalated into a lethal shooting. According to the LAPD, two unidentified individuals reportedly involved in the crime were moving in separate vehicles.
The police responded promptly to a call about shootings at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night. The incident happened in the 7800 block of Denivelle Road, located in Sunland. Upon reaching the scene, the officers found a man who had sustained numerous gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the site of the incident. His identity, however, remains undisclosed.
Based on the preliminary data garnered, two suspect vehicles approached the victim, who was on foot at that point in time. The spokesperson for LAPD, whilst talking to KTLA, confirmed that the driver of a white truck, identified as Suspect 1, and a passenger in a black vehicle, identified as Suspect 2, exited their respective vehicles and opened fire on the victim.
The scene was documented on video by KTLA, showing a white canopy behind the police tape and officers gathering evidence under the illumination of flashlights. Post incident, the suspects allegedly drove away from the scene, the direction of which remains undisclosed.
Further reports from the police confirm that a suspect, found in a red Mercedes, was apprehended on Grove Street near Mount Gleason Avenue, approximately 1,000 feet from the shooting scene. This led the police to speculate the possible change of vehicles by the suspects. The circumstances surrounding the red Mercedes are still unclear, and the LAPD continues its search for more possible suspects linked to the crime. The investigation of the case has been handed over to the LAPD homicide detectives. To this date, no additional information has been disseminated.
