The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is currently investigating a late-night shooting incident that resulted in one fatality. The incident reportedly involved two suspected perpetrators operating from different vehicles.
The LAPD responded to a shots fired call at 7815 Denivelle Road in Sunland around 11:30 pm on a Sunday. Upon their arrival, the responding units found an unidentified man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Based on preliminary investigation, the LAPD believes that the two suspects approached the victim, who was on foot, from two separate vehicles. The first suspect, operating a white truck, exited the vehicle and fired at the victim. Following this, the second suspect, who was a passenger in a black vehicle, also alighted and fired shots.
Footage from KTLA revealed a white canopy set up on the street amid an ongoing evidence collection effort by the LAPD. The suspects were believed to have fled the scene in their respective vehicles. Police were able to detain one of the suspects on Grove Street near Mount Gleason Avenue, a short distance away from the crime scene. The apprehended suspect was found in a red Mercedes, bringing up the possibility that the suspects may have switched vehicles during their escape.
Details surrounding the red Mercedes are still unclear. The LAPD confirmed that the search for additional suspects is still ongoing, with homicide detectives spearheading the investigation. More information about the case has yet to be released.
