The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is currently conducting an investigation into a fatal incident that took place on the 110 Freeway in central Los Angeles. On a recent Saturday, a pedestrian was reported to have been fatally hit by a vehicle.
CHP officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of a pedestrian lying in the freeways southbound lanes, just north of First Street. The dispatch time was approximately 6:30 a.m. Upon arrival, the pedestrian who had suffered grievous injuries was pronounced dead at the location.
Preliminary findings from the investigation suggest that the victim had been on the freeway lanes before the arrival of any vehicles. After a while, an oncoming Honda Civic struck the pedestrian, who may have also been hit by several other vehicles, according to CHP officials. However, the specific circumstances leading to the persons presence on the freeway are still not established.
The identity of the deceased is being kept confidential until the next of kin has been notified. The Honda Civics driver stayed on the scene following the incident. As the investigation into the fatal incident is still ongoing, no further details have been made publicly available.
The CHP is urging anyone possessing information about this incident to contact them at 213-744-2331, or the L.A. County Coroners Office at 323-343-0732.
