A fatal incident was reported on the 210 Freeway in Monrovia in the early hours of Sunday morning involving a wrong-way driver. Law enforcement authorities reported multiple witness accounts of a vehicle, identified as a white sedan, traveling east in the freeways westbound lanes around 3:30 a.m.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers subsequently located the vehicle at Rosemead Boulevard. Reports indicate that the sedan, driving the wrong-way, was involved in a head-on collision with a pickup truck near the Huntington Drive exit, approximately three miles from where the vehicle was initially identified.

In an unfortunate turn of events, the wrong-way driver was killed in the collision. The date of the incident was December 29, 2024. Officers on the scene notified the Arcadia Fire Department immediately post-collision. Upon arrival, the fire department personnel declared the sedans male driver deceased.

Of the two occupants of the Ford pickup truck impacted in the collision, neither were publically identified, and their injuries, if any, were not specified in the preliminary CHP report. They were, however, moved from the crash scene by the fire department personnel.

In response to the incident, a SigAlert was issued for the westbound 210, just east of Huntington Drive. Initially, the entire stretch of the freeway was shut down due to the collision for investigation and cleanup. As of 6:15 a.m., only the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) and #1 lanes remained closed.
