On Tuesday, a fatal accident occurred on Highway 126 in Ventura County, resulting in two deaths and causing traffic interruptions on Christmas Eve. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) of Moorpark, the crash was reported at 3:53 p.m. Authorities said the accident happened east of Fillmore and involved a head-on collision, leading to two fatalities. The identities of the casualties were not released as of Tuesday evening.

The number of occupants present in the vehicles involved at the time of the incident remains uncertain, as does the impact on other vehicles. Following the accident, eastbound lanes on the Highway experienced traffic congestion through Fillmore, as conveyed by the authorities.

In light of the traffic disruptions caused by the incident, authorities have suggested alternate routes for motorists. These include Highway 126 to the 101 Freeway leading into Ventura, the 126 to Grimes Canyon Rd into Moorpark, and 126 to Highway 118 connecting Camarillo. These alternative routes are advised to manage the traffic overflow resulting from the accident and to ensure circulation.
