An accident involving a big rig and another vehicle on Tuesday morning led to the closure of the westbound 101 Freeway in the Encino area. The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred just past 5:15 a.m. near Hayvenhurst Avenue.

The collision caused the big rig to capsize, obstructing all westbound lanes on the freeway. The incident was also reported to have led to a significant diesel fuel leakage from the large truck and necessitated the use of absorbent materials to tidy up the freeway.

By 6:49 a.m., aerial footage from Sky5 revealed that all westbound lanes, along with one eastbound lane, remained closed to traffic. The California Highway Patrol announced that they expected one lane to reopen around 7 a.m. The duration of the full closure, however, remained unclear at that time.

The cause of the accident is currently being investigated. There has not been any immediate information on if the crash resulted in any injuries. Additional updates on the story will be provided as they become available.
