An individual lost their lives in a series of unfortunate vehicular collisions, one of which encompassed an out-of-service Metro bus, on the 110 Freeway in Los Angeles, as reported early Sunday morning. Reports indicate that California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers were promptly dispatched to the tragic incident that unfolded on the northbound expanse of the 110 at Manchester Boulevard slightly before the 5 a.m. mark.
Upon their arrival at the site, the officers found the implicated vehicles and the casualty. Although the authorities did not initially reveal their precise location, whether they were inside one of the vehicles or on the highway, Metro confirmed to local news service KTLA that the victim was a pedestrian who had been flung out of their vehicle due to a prior crash where the bus was not involved.
The Metro bus engaged in this incident was reportedly a temporarily out-of-service Metro Line 210. The buss driver did not sustain any injuries, and the bus did not carry any passengers. A SigAlert was consequently released for the impacted area and was later rescinded.
Before dawn had broken, video footage from the crash scene, dispatched on the Citizen App, showcased rapidly building traffic congestion. The case is currently under review with CHP officials endeavoring to establish the cause of the collisions.
