Late in the evening on Saturday, December 14, 2024, a serious car crash involving a large number of individuals led to major traffic congestion on the 5 Freeway in Los Angeles, particularly in the Pacoima area near Paxton Street. This incident, a rollover crash, occurred on the northbound stretch of the freeway and involved a total of ten people.
Four of the ten involved individuals were transported to a local hospital, among which two are listed in serious condition; a 27-year-old female and a 34-year-old male. The remaining six were offered transport to medical facilities but chose to decline. Details regarding the extent of their injuries, if any, have not been disclosed.
Images sourced from the Citizen App reveal substantial damage to a silver sedan involved in the collision. Also reported was an overturned vehicle. Following the accident, several lanes on the northbound 5 Freeway were closed, resulting in bumper-to-bumper traffic as pictured in footage taken by passing drivers.
Currently, it remains unclear how many vehicles were in fact involved in the crash. Additionally, factors contributing to the incident such as speed or impairment have yet to be determined.
