On November 18, 2024, two pedestrians were severely injured in a hit-and-run collision in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles. The victims, both anonymous, relayed their experience to KTLA. As they were walking to a restaurant for dinner and crossing the road outside a crosswalk on Western Avenue at Monette Avenue, they were struck by a passing car. Dashcam footage from a nearby bus revealed that the pedestrians were waiting in a center divider lane before the incident.
The suspect, who was driving a Toyota Camry, did not stop after hitting the victims. Instead, the driver fled the scene, leaving the injured victims on the road. The victims were transported to a local hospital where they received treatment for internal bleeding and broken bones resulting from the collision.
Moments before the crash, the victims were standing in a median lane among moving traffic. Dashcam footage from a passing bus has allowed for the identification of the suspects car, a gray Toyota Camry manufactured between 2018 and 2024. After the collision, one of the victims was transferred to a rehabilitation center and continues to receive treatment.
The vehicle involved in this hit-and-run incident may have damage on the drivers side due to the impact. The victims, who are currently recovering, wish for the quick apprehension of the perpetrator to prevent potential future incidents. Information leading to the suspects identification, capture, and conviction could lead to a reward of up to $50,000. If involved in a collision, motorists are advised to promptly inform emergency services and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
