A Los Angeles County pet store incurred significant damage when a customers pickup truck mistakenly drove into the store. The incident occurred at Wess Pets & Feeds, 4424 N. Peck Road, and was promptly attended to by officers from the El Monte Police Department just before 10 a.m. A video provided by KTLA revealed the presence of a white Ford F-150 inside the destroyed store, which had been cordoned off by yellow police tape. As a result, the premises were red-tagged by city officials deeming the structure as unsafe for anyone to enter.
In addition, the L.A. County Fire crews were also mobilized to the location. Luckily, no injuries were reported during this incident. The Wess Pet & Feed store suffered immense structural damage due to the accident, as evidenced in images from RMG News taken on Dec. 4, 2024.
Store owners, Mario and Mabel Flores reported that the possible impact of the accident on the animals, mainly chickens, is still unclear. This uncertainty is due to their inability to access the almost century-old building, which has been their shops location for the past eight years. Chickens were spotted in a coop unharmed, and a box of baby chickens was observed outside the damaged structure.
What brings relief is the fact that all people were able to evade the incoming vehicle in time. Despite the significant disturbance, no arrests were made and no citations were issued following the incident.
