A pedestrian was fatally hit in an early morning hit-and-run accident in downtown Los Angeles, according to reports from the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The incident occurred on Wednesday morning in the vicinity of 6th Street and Los Angeles Street and was first reported around 5 a.m.
A LAPD spokesperson disclosed that officers, upon reaching the scene, found a 50-year-old male victim lying in the roadway. Investigators collected evidence from the scene, which included a hat and a pair of shoes believed to belong to the victim. These personal items were found left at the crash site.
The unidentified victim was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, as relayed by the LAPD spokesperson. Despite thorough investigation at the scene, the driver responsible for the hit-and-run remained at large. The vehicle had been abandoned at the crash scene, and the driver had reportedly fled on foot.
