In the early hours of Sunday, a major single-vehicle accident was reported at Jamboree Road in Newport Beach. Authorities were notified of the mishap at roughly 01:00 a.m. and promptly arrived on scene. The vehicle involved was an SUV, which had impacted two light poles before colliding with a tree. This forceful collision resulted in the engine compartment getting detached from the SUVs main body. The significant impact was evident as one of the vehicles front tires ended up within the vicinity of the Palisades Tennis Club, testifying to the severity of the collision.
Emergency units responding to the incident were able to rapidly put out the fire in the engine compartment. The SUVs main body, found distanced approximately 20 feet away on Jamboree Road, was almost beyond recognition. In the midst of such tragic wreckage, a fortunate outcome emerged. The SUVs two occupants self-extricated prior to the arrival of first responders. Found seated on a nearby curb, they were evaluated at the site before being transported to a closeby hospital in a stable condition.
The immediate causes of the crash remain unclear. However, the Newport Beach Fire Department (NBFD) has taken this event as an opportunity to remind motorists about the increased incidences of traffic accidents during the holiday period. In a bid to ensure collective road safety, the department urged all drivers to proceed with added caution, maintaining focus and driving responsibly at all times.
