An unfortunate event occurred near the 405 Freeway in Van Nuys, California, on Thursday morning – a 1968 Cessna plane crash-landed and overturned in a field. The plane lost communication with the tower and subsequently landed around the 15300 block of West Burbank Boulevard at around 7 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).
The two occupants of the aircraft, a man and a woman, managed to exit the aircraft safely. Although the LA Fire Department was prompt with their response, both passengers declined transport to a hospital, an official alert from the department stated. These individuals appeared to be in a stable condition following the incident.
The crash occurred in the Sepulveda Basin area, approximately three miles south of Van Nuys Airport. What led to this crash, including the cause for the communication drop with the control tower, remains unclear. An investigation into the circumstances and root cause of this unexpected incident will be conducted by the National Transportation Safety Board.
This is an ongoing story, and further details and updates surrounding this incident will be delivered as they emerge.
